'cause I'm a bad habit | Current music favourites

Hello!

It has been a few too many days since I last posted and for that I apologise. University has taken over my life at the moment and everything else has kind of fallen off the side for me.

This week I am aiming to get organised and get everything figured out. My diary has become my best friend as well as the notes app on my phone. I have been setting myself deadlines and writing lots of lists to help get my up to speed on coursework, and so far it's working!

I have been listening to a lot of music these last two weeks to help get me through my coursework and I'd love to share my favourites.

Whilst studying I generally like to listen to quite chilled and relaxing music to help me focus and Snow Mantled Love are my go to band. I know they may not be everyone's cup of tea but I do love them and their EP's are free on bandcamp, so go check them out.

In these last few weeks I have also fallen in love with Foals all over again. They have been one of my favourite bands since about 2006, but these last few weeks I haven't been able to stop listening to Holy Fire which is a phenomenal album. I am hoping to see them live again some time soon.

Thirdly, and finally, is a song from my absolute favourite band ever whom I also discovered in 2006 (Most of my favourite band are MySpace discoveries from when I was about 11 or 12, how cool was I?). This is the Shikari Sound System Remix of Radiate by Enter Shikari. There's just always something about Enter Shikari songs. Different ones take me back to different periods in my life and remind me of different people, and this song does exactly that. This is a very chilled remix and, like most of their songs, it reminds me of my good friend Kingsley who I met in 2006. Our mutual love of Shikari (and Star Wars) has been an important part of our friendship and this song reminds me of that and it just makes me happy. :)

I hope you are all well, sorry about the slightly different post but I should have a normal beautyish one this weekend!

A much needed girly weekend | A very small haul

Hello,

As mentioned in a previous post, I had my gorgeous friend Natalie visiting me this weekend and we had the most stereotypical girly weekend and it was amazing. The most important part of a girly weekend as you all know is shopping, so here are my purchases.

Living off a student budget means Primark is my best friend. First I picked up a few of the £5 dresses to try on in an attempt to wear something other than skinny jeans and these are the two that I picked. I know these aren't the most exciting of colours but they are so comfortable and easy to wear. They will be ideal for days at uni when the current storms in Devon stop (I don't want to flash my pants to everyone!). These will be ideal with a cardi/big jumper, thick tights, and boots.

My staple items from Primark are always pyjama bottoms and they did not let me down. I love their PJ's as they are so comfy and have pockets!! Ideal for lazy days at home when you can't go anywhere with out your phone. I absolutely adore the print on these and they are well worth the £5 I paid! The next item is this purple acid wash tee from the men's section. I always have a look at the men's tops in Primark as the basics are so much better quality than the women's. This was £6 and will go well with my black skinnies and shorts and tights and the necklace below.

One resolution of mine this year was to wear more jewellery and I have started this off with a simple, statement necklace (is that a thing?) from H&M. This was £6.99 and will help brighten up plain jumpers and t-shirts. These bangles are another simple way for me to enter the jewellery world. These are very basic and cost me a whole £1 in Primark but have really lovely designs.

The rest of our weekend has consisted of pizza, chocolate, and tea. TOP TIP: put Minstrels in the microwave for 45 - 60 seconds before eating and they are all melty and perfect in the middle, yumm. Plus a lot of DVD's, our favourite being Crazy, Stupid, Love because Ryan Gosling, need I say anymore? This weekend has been such a needed break for both of us from Uni work and I don't think I'm quite ready so head onto campus tomorrow. :(

Here, have a vain selfie of the pair of us.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

Winter Essentials

Hello,

I know we are still technically in winter, but in my mind we are in spring because it’s pretty, colourful, and sunny and that is what we all need in our lives right now!

Winter is a very tough time for our delicate skin and these are the products that have kept me moisturised and soft.

Winter Skin Essentials

  1. Blistex: I could not survive winter without this. My lips become dry and chapped ever so easily so smothering on a load of this before I go to sleep means I wake up with beautiful, kissable lips!
  2. Eczema balm: My god, this has been my saviour this winter. I have been putting this on all areas of dry skin before I go to bed and it’s all sorted by morning. (Read my review here)
  3. Vaseline moisturiser: Quick absorbing, not greasy, superbly moisturising. Need I say more?
  4. The Body Shop Warming Mask: I plan on doing a full review of this shortly but basically, it leaves you feeling clean and moisturised, perfect!

These have been my saviours these last couple of months and I dread to think what condition my skin would be in without them!

What have been your beauty necessities in this cold weather?

See you soon x

Fashion, beauty, and blog resolutions

Hello,

As mentioned in my last post I have fashion resolutions this year and also beauty and blog ones that I want to share with you.
  1. Blog more. So far, I think I am succeeding. The last few weeks I have really got back into it with three posts already drafted and an endless list of post ides.
  2. Wear more colourful clothes and less black and navy. Meh, I am doing a bit better but blacks, greys and navys are so easy to wear.
  3. Less skinny jeans. I have been wearing my shorts and tights more, but am yet to venture into skirts and dresses.
  4. Less converse. Not successful. Ha, love my cons too much. I do occasionally mix it up with my nikes though!
  5. Wear more lipstick. I buy lipstick but hardly ever wear it as I don’t want to be over dressed. I have been wearing some neutral colours, but can’t wait to whack out my oranges in a couple of months!
  6. Use liquid eyeliner. I have a confession, I am scared of liquid eyeliner. I cannot do it. I may have only tried a handful of times but it always goes horribly wrong and I hate it. I will get better, I will.
  7. Learn how to contour. Another confession. I just don’t know how to do it and I’m scared of having brown patches on my face from doing it wrong.
  8. Wear/buy more jewellery. I wear no jewellery, apart from earrings, and this needs to change. I have my festival wristbands on permanently, but they don’t count. I want to wear more bracelets, rings, and necklaces.
  9. Say goodbye to face wipes. I can happily say that I have done this and my skin is thanking me. My face is so soft and it has really helped my dry skin.

The first of these I want to remedy is the jewellery issue. The beautiful Natalie is coming to stay with me soon and when she is here I think we are going to have to hit up Accessorize. And as she is the queen of makeup she can teach me how to contour.

I plan on posting a haul of my shopping trip with Natalie which should include some Primark, Accessorize and lots of Boots/Superdrug products. I have actually budgeted for this shopping trip so have no excuse to feel guilty.

Do you have any fashion or beauty resolutions this year?

January wishlist

Hello,

This year I want to start blogging more fashion related things and as I am very short in money (hooray for student life) I want to do a wishlist at the end of every month featuring products/clothes/shoes that I have been lusting after.

January wishlist
1. Floral Skater Dress (Boohoo.com £15), 2. Orange Baseball Tee (ASOS.com £12), 3.  Red Zippered Jumper (romwe.com, SOLD OUT), 4. MARGATE Double Buckle Geek Shoes (Topshop £32), 5. Real Techniques Blush Brush (Superdrug £9.99), 6. Nannie Peter Pan Collar Blouse (fashionunion.com £18), 7. Daisy Street Fishermans Cardigan (asos.com £19.99)

My clothing resolutions this year are to include more colours and try and wear things other than skinnies, hoodies, and my beloved Converse and Nikes, so lets see how this goes.

1. This very much fits in with my clothing resolutions and is ideal for days that I want to make a bit more effort, but at the same time it is not to formal. It could be dressed up with a blazer or down with a denim jacket/cardi.

2. If you have not seen the ASOS basics range, where have you been?! I was so excited to see that there were so many Baseball Tees in this range and when I can justifying buying one I shall either be purchasing this orange one, or the bright green one. Gorgeous and affordable!

3. I think it is probably a good thing that this jumper sold out or I would not have been able to restrain myself much longer! It is very basic but the zips make it a bit more interesting and it looks so comfortable!

4. THESE SHOES. OH WOW. How perfectly would they go with the skater dress?! Want and need these. I think I have seen a more student budget friendly pair in the window of Primark so I may have to go and check those out.

5. I absolutely love this brush but mine went AWOL when I moved back to Uni in September and I had hoped it would reappear, but it hasn't unfortunately. :(

6. One of my current fashion loves is shirts because collars are totally adorable. The jumper/shirt combo is just my favourite thing and the moment and this shirt is lovely and the white collar would be great with some of my jumpers.

7. And finally this beautiful grey cardigan. I have been looking for a big chunky grey cardigan to chuck on to go to uni instead of a hoodie as it looks like I've made more effort than I have.

I think I'm going to have to hide my bank card or all my money is going to disappear. I don't need to eat, right?

What have you been lusting over this month?

See you soon x

Seaweed Day Cream | The Body Shop

Hola,

Body Shop recently were advertising an offer of 50% if you spent £50+ and as I had some Christmas money I thought it would be rude not to. I bought myself a few different skin care treats but I'm only using them as I finish up my previous products.

The first thing I picked out was this Seaweed Day Cream. I was unsure about this as it is a mattifying product and I have areas of dry and oily skin but it is perfect! I use this in the morning before my makeup. It absorbs in about 30 seconds and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. It makes applying my BB Cream so effortless!
I’ve found that it has reduced the oiliness on my T zone whilst still moisturising the dry areas. An added bonus that I was not expecting is that it helps my make up last longer on my face which is ideal for longer days at uni!

This pot is going to last me ages as you only need the smallest amount to cover your whole face. At full price this is £10 for 50ml from The Body Shop but there are often great deals online!

As I start using them I will be posting reviews of the other products I ordered.

What are your favourites from The Body Shop? I need to try more products!

See you soon!

Bloom Remedies

Hola,

I stumbled upon this company whilst wondering around a farmers market in Truro in November with the beautiful Natalie. They are and all natural cruelty free brand located in Cornwall and what drew me in was the Eczema balm. I struggle with dry skin and eczema regularly and so many of the products I have tried don’t work or just don’t feel very nice on the skin.

After smelling all the products and trying some out to make sure I wasn’t allergic I came home and ordered two things. Firstly, the eczema balm. I know it says for babies but it is so lovely. It smells and feels wonderful on my skin and has really helped with healing my eczema. I have also been using it on my dry elbows and they are no longer dry!

I also bought the citrus lip balm which I use every morning and it leaves my lips feeling moisturised all day. It smells and tastes delicious and is currently one of my favourite lip products. I got flatmate the strawberry lip balm and it is absolutely delicious! I shall definitely be getting one with my next order.

My mum expressed an interest in the brand so for part of her Christmas present I got her the hand and foot mini set and she loved the products! I may have to treat her and myself to the full sized hand balm soon because it helped our dry hands so much and smells incredible!

Also, the postage is super fast and it is packaged so beautifully. These are lovely products and are such good value for money. I can't wait to order some new products from them soon.

See you soon
