L'Oreal Perfect Clean

Hope you all had a fabby christmas and ate lotsa delicious food with your family and besties!

When I pop into town I always have a quick look in the beauty section in TK Maxx to see if I can find any bargains. On my last visit I saw this L’Oreal face wash which isn’t something I would usually pick up as my skin can be very temperamental. But, it has a fun little brush (not gonna lie, this is the main reason I bought it) and it was £2.99 so I couldn’t resist.
I have been using this for a few weeks now every night after I have taken off my make up. I often have reactions to products like this as I have very sensitive skin and they usually also dry my skin out but this has definitely not been the case with this product.

It leaves my skin feeling clean, fresh and soft. If foams up nicely on the brush and has helped keep my dry skin and spots at bay. Because of the texture of the brush this doubles up as an exfoliator which is great.

This will last me a long time as you only need a small amount of product each day, but I shall definitely be repurchasing this once I run out. I now just need to find a great moisturiser to team up with it. Any recommendations?

Hope y'all have a great new year!

I have a candle addiction

So, apparently turning 20 and moving into a nice flat means that you start to spend you student loan on candles. I cannot afford them and do not need them but I always seem to be on the lookout for more!

Firstly, I have my oil burner and 3 oils. I picked up the burner from Wilkinsons for £4 which is a bargain and I think it’s super cute. I have 2 oils from The Body Shop: Lavender, and Green Tea and Lemon. The Green Tea one smells so fresh and lovely and is the one most frequently in the burner. I also have a Fir Oil from M&S to make my flat smell like Christmas trees!

Next is this beautiful Hathi Saharan Rainforest candle from Decorware. Obviously it looks beautiful and I love the smell of it as it smells like the beach, gorgeous! I picked this up in TKMaxx for around £8 I think.

This, as you can see, is a small Yankee Candle in the flavour Merry Marshmallow. I got this as a gift for my birthday. When you smell the jar it is very strong and sickly but when it burns the fragrance is a lot lighter and it does actually smell like marshmallows! This size jar can be bought in lots of stores and online for around £7 - £8.

Now this one does not look pretty but smells lovely. It is the Skittles cherry candle. I recently stumbled across these in Poundland and ended up buying a couple. The other flavours in this range are not as nice, but this is my third cherry candle in about 2 months, oops, but for £1 I can’t complain.

Unfortunately, this candle isn't mine, I picked it up as a little treat for my mum but it’s so nice and I’m going to struggle to hand it over! Mum and I love the smell of lavender but sometimes the candles can be very sweet, but this one smells exactly like fresh lavender, perfect! This is from Evodia but I found it in TKMaxx for £8.

As you can see, I am a fan of the candle section in TKMaxx. There are so many all for amazing prices. The only downside is if you find one you really love, they probably won’t ever have it again. I have been trying to fing Sahara Rainforest again for months now!

I can't stop buying nail varnish

Recently Poundland have been stocking some fabulous beauty steals and I wanted to share mine with you.

(OPI - Shatter The Scales, Sally Hansen - 909 Pink Force, Revlon - 240 Impulsize, Revlon - 731 Knockout)

Firsty, is this OPI crackle nail varnish from their Amazing Spider-Man range. I absolutely love the colour of this. I have used it over black and matte black for a more subtle effect and over a silver for a brighter effect.
There have been so many Sally Hansen magnetic polishes in store at the moment and I picked up this pink because I love the colour. I am not keen on the magnetic pattern so I just use it without that. The formula is great and dries reasonably quickly.
There are always Revlon, Rimmel, and Maybelline polishes but I never usually like the colours. However, the other day I picked up these two. I’ve been in need of a black nail varnish for a long time and I just really liked the purple, and for £1 each I am a happy girly.
AND, Poundland have been stocking Stila again. My local store had loads of little Stila powder highlighters, not that I bought one, but cheap beauty finds are always fun!

Anyway, sorry for my absence. Uni was kind of taking over but all my work for this term is now done, just in time for some Christmas blogging! Yay!

My MUA Lipstick Collection

Now MUA, they are a great make up company and we all know this. My favourite products by them are their lipsticks.

I have these in shades (from the left) 16, 13, 7, 3, and 1. You can see how pigmented these are from the swatches. The three dark shades (13, 3, and 1) all have incredible staying power. Shade 13 is my usual night out shade and it stayed on for 8+ hours for my summer ball during which there was a lot of drinking and eating so I can highly recommend these.

Shade 16 is my everyday shade. As mentioned in a previous post I love orange lips at the moment and this is a lovely pale orange/coral colour. This does take a few coats to get the colour to its full potential but I love it so much that I don't care. (Also, it's a pound so one cannot complain). The staying power of this is not as great as the others, but it's £1.

Shade 7 is a lovely colour but is very shimmery and I prefer matte lips so as a result never wear it. But if you do like shimmery lips then it's fantastic.

What are your favourite shades?

My August Favourites

I want to start doing a monthly favourites post so here we go.

My top 3 beauty products are the Maybelline BB Cream, my MUA Undressed Me Too palette and my Vaseline moisturiser. These are very basic products but I adore them so much.

I got put off of BB Creams after trying the Garnier one and finding it a big waste of money but the Maybelline one is fantastic. It gives good coverage, matches my skin tone and is very good value for money. Since day 1 of using this it has become part of my everyday make up routine.
Undressed Me Too is the first lot of eyeshadows I have owned and I am thoroughly enjoying using and experimenting with all of the different colours. After my friend Natalie going on and on about her MUA palette I thought I should try one and oh boy, my eyeshadowless days are over. This palette can be used for very subtle day time looks and more glamorous evening looks.
Does my last product even count as a beauty product? I don't care. I needed a new moisturiser and this was on offer in Boots so I thought why not? And my legs have never felt softer. The HUGEEEE positive of this moisuriser is that it absorbs quickly! I have no patience when it comes to waiting for moisturiser to absorb so this is ideal for me. It smells lovely, and did I mention, my legs feel great!

My favourite hair product of the month is my trusty Aussie leave-in conditioner. It leaves my hair soft, tangle free, and smelling divine. What more could a girl want?

Also, one random favourite: I bought a pair of skinny jeans from Primark with Lycra in which may sound a bit weird, but they are amazing. Because they contain Lycra they keep their shape so stay tight all day and there are no more saggy knees after a few hours of wear! It also means that after a few washes they still are the exact same shape they were when you bought them. If you do get a chance to pick these up, do it! They are only £13 so are a massive bargain. I got mine at the beginning of the month when they were new out and the colours available were a blue and a grey. I'm hoping that they will bring these out in other colours, especially a black, as everyone needs the perfect pair of black jeans.

What have been your favourite things this month? Any recommendations?

Summer in the City

For those of you who don't know YouTube is a big part of my life. I do not make videos (maybe one day) but have been part of the lovely community for about 6 years. There are people on the site that I have grown up watching and have helped me through my difficult teenage years. I have made some great friends through the site and gatherings.

On the 17th and 18th of August was the biggest UK YouTube gathering organised by the lovely Tom, Liam, Luke, Dave, and Jazza.

Aside from seeing a lot of friends I also got to see a lot of my favourite YouTubers perform. This included comedy acts from Bing, WOTO, Crabstickz, and Jack and Dean and music from Orla Gartland, Harry Hudson Taylor, and Hank Green. There were also some great panels about YouTubey things, my favourite of which was the Becoming YouTube panel because that documentary thing is fantastic!

The Becoming YouTube panel

Orla Gartland and Harry Hudson Taylor

World of the Orange and Bing

Hank Green

I love going to YouTube events as there is always such a great atmosphere and everyone is so happy and friendly. I had the most incredible time this year seeing friends from all over the country (some who I have not seen since last years event), making new friends, and meeting these content creators who I have a lot of respect for.

I just want to say a massive thanks to the organisers. It was a great weekend and I wish I could be back having all the fun times in London.

FashionistA Haul

I am sorry for the lack of posts, but work and life have taken over for the last few months, but I move back to uni in a couple of weeks and my hours at work are dropping, so I am back now!

Recently I have made an order from MUA as I was keen to try some of their FashionistA products.

First on my list was a new mascara and I ordered the Volume Mascara. It is safe to say that I am very unimpressed with this product. It took about ten coats before I could actually see any mascara on my lashes so I didn't have the patience to apply more coats and see if it did supply the volume it advertised.

The second product I bought was this Double Take lipstick in Coral. The lipstick is a lovely colour (I love oranges at the moment), applies nicely and lasts a good while. My only issue is the packaging. It feels horrible and the lid is forever falling off which is obviously not ideal.

Now, here are the products that I am most excited to tell you about and have completely fallen in love with, the bronzers and blushes! I ordered these in Dubai, Paris and Juicy Apricot and I love them all! They are so pigmented, easily blendable and so nice to apply. (They are also super cheap online at the moment so are well worth taking a look at!) I plan on buying these in many more shades when my bank account allows it along with some of their eyeshadows which are equally lovely!

Let me know if you have tried any FashionitstA products and what you thought of them. They have a huge sale online at the moment with a lot of products between £1 and £2 so are good bargins.

Hope you are all well.

Real Techniques Powder Brush Review

Make up brushes have never really been anything I have invested a lot of time or money into. I would buy whichever and just get on with it. A couple of weeks ago I decided I needed a new powder brush as the one I had been using seemed to take off more powder than it was putting on and it was very scratchy.

When I was in Boots hunting for a replacement they had an offer on and I ended up buying a Real Techniques brush after hearing so much about them and I am so glad I did.

They brush is very easy to hold and use. It’s not too heavy or light and the shape of the handle rests very comfortably in your hand. The head of the brush is large which is perfect for putting powder on your face and the bristles are ever so soft meaning that I could happily spend ages putting powder on my face. The brush picks up product well and applies it very evenly to my face.

The bristles themselves are white at the end which is great as you can see how much product is on the brush and also when it needs cleaning. I think I have washed it 3 times since buying it and the brush is still in perfect shape and the bristles have remained soft.

Using this has made me realise that I need to buy better make up brushes and I wish I had the money to do so. When I can afford it, the next brush I want to purchase will be the blush brush.
Do you love Real Techniques as much as I do? What are your favourite brushes?

Moving out

You may not know this but I have recently finished my first year of uni and last week I moved back home for the summer. This last week has been a bit hectic with job interviews in Bath, a day at Alton Towers, a night in Falmouth for a friends pre-birthday celebrations, my summer ball an uni and packing to move home.

I lived in halls this year and whilst I did not get along with my flat mates I am still sad to be leaving. Taking down all my posters and my photo wall has been a bit emotional. All the photos on my wall were from the year or two before uni with friends from home and I am looking forward to spending the next four months with them. But at the same time it has highlighted how quickly this year has gone and that I have so many more important people in my life that are going to be on the photo wall in my new flat in September.

I have such a fantastic year in Plymouth making some wonderful new best friends and becoming closer with friends from school. I will be back in September but things get a lot more serious then as it actually counts towards my degree! :/

Are any of you guys at Uni and scared about how fast time is flying by? It still feels like I only moved here the other week!

Just crash fall down | The Summer Ball 2013

The end of my first year at Uni finished about a month ago and to celebrate the end of the year the Uni holds a summer ball for all years on campus. This wasn’t something that I planned to attend as it was £40 and didn’t really seem worth it as the musical acts for previous years was not anything I was interested in. However, the day that tickets went on sale You Me At Six were announced as the headline act and suddenly £40 seemed like a very small price to pay to see You Me At Six right outside my front door as I am a HUGE fan and have been wanting to see them for about 7 years.

I was so very excited for the ball purely because of You Me At Six. However, because I was seeing it purely as a concert rather than a ball, I didn’t really bother with my outfit and make up. I spent all of half an hour getting ready as I knew spending forever wouldn’t be worth it as the concert would be dark, pushy and sweaty. I got ready to the sound of You Me At Six soundchecking and it was great! My dress is from last years spring/summer season on Asos. My bag was from Surfdome last year. My lipstick shall be reviewed very soon.

You Me At Six came on and played for at least 95 minutes and I sung and screamed until I lost my voice. They were absolutely incredible and even better than I thought they would be. After they finished we left the ball and were heading home when we met Max and Chris and were shortly joined by Dan and I was so happy and got a photo and stood talking with them for about 15 minutes about how drunk they were. It was fantastic and they were soooo lovely.

Overall, for a night I never planned on going to it very quickly became well worth £40 and is one of the best nights of my life. I have been listening to You Me At Six for about 7 years and they have always been one of my favourites and I am so grateful that I finally got to see them and even meet 3 of them.

Hats off to You Me At Six for a great show.

Have any of you had and proms/balls yet? How were they? x

Raindrops keep falling on my head | NYC Nail Varnish

When it comes to nail varnish I am a Rimmel girl through and through. The colours are gorgeous and they dry reasonably quickly which is a big issue for me as I am incapable of sitting still.

However, recently I have developed a love for pastel nail varnishes and wanted a lovely blue one but the Rimmel pastel blue looked like Tipp-Ex. Whilst in Superdrug the other day I came across the NYC pastel colours and there was a blue, a mint green and a pinky colour and they were all so beautiful and for about £1.80 (I think) I had to give the blue one a go and all I can say is wow. After two coats my nails are the exact same colour as the product in the bottle and they actually dried quite quickly. I've been wearing it for 5 days now and the colour has hardly chipped at all! I'm going to have to go and buy some more now!

Also, I noticed that MUA have recently brought out some new shades that look very much like Essie varnishes, both in packaging and colours available. Have any of you tried these? I am very tempted by a couple of the shades!

What are your favourite brands and shades of nail varnish? Also, have you tried any quick dry top coats or freeze spray things to make your nails dry faster? Do they actually work?

Sun sun sun | I need to buy some dresses

As I am sure you are aware, recently in the UK there has been quite a bit of sun and it has been reasonably warm, crazy! This has left me staring at the contents of my wardrobe and realising I have hardly any summer clothes. I'm going shopping today with a couple of friends and my aim is to buy some nice summery clothes, and maybe even some dresses!

Dresses are not usually my thing as they involve exposing parts of my body that I am not fond of, but a beautiful lady (Hazel) on youtube recently uploaded a video about her dresses and she spoke about body issues. When she was talking about her issues I just sat thinking to myself "Is she crazy? She has an incredible figure and I love her body.". This made me realise that the things I dislike about my body are only things that I notice because I see my body so much and it is unlikely that other people are going to notice them. So thank you, Hazel. If you have a few minutes I advise that you watch this video as not only does she have a lovely dress selection but she has made me feel a lot more confident about my body.

Have any of you bought any new summery clothes recently? I need some inspiration!

Jenny's got a body just like an hourglass

You know when you find a song and you love it so much and you have it on repeat for weeks? Yeah..

Jenny by Walk The Moon has been playing constantly on my iPod for the last couple of weeks. I've had the album for a while since hearing Shiver Shiver (another fantastic song) and have been enjoying the whole album, but the last week I have found Jenny being my go to song.

It's a fun, upbeat and extremely catchy song and I highly recommend giving it a listen!

Here's to starting something new

Hello :)

For years I have wanted to start blogging and what better time to start than now. I have just finished my first year of University and have a 4 month long summer ahead of me with very little planned as nobody wants to employ me. :((

I plan on posting beauty, wardrobe, music, and book related posts on here (a little bit of everything really!) as these are tings I sometimes put a lot of time and money into and really enjoy and would like to share them with other people.

In the next few days I plan on posting some clothes that I have recently bought and are loving.

See you then! :)
